Memories of the Mallon Brewing Company: A Childhood Recollection
A story
This picture may be the only known frontal image of the Mallon Brewing Company. It was a 2 story brick structure at 2 King Street. When built, the Mallon Brewery used water from a spring in the mountain immediately behind the building. When Bruce Flohr was growing up next door at 4 King Street, Mother and Daughter Margarete and Mini Mallon lived in the building. Mini Mallon worked at the Wallace Supply Company where the Sierra Silver Mine tour is now headquartered. Each Fall the Mallons would receive a truckload of split firewood. Bruce and his sister Jane would use their own wagon to haul the wood to a storage shed in in the back of the building next to the mountain. As a reward, the Mallons would give Bruce and Jane a freshly baked coffee cake. (Submitted by Bruce Flohr)
